2011 Seniors Lead

Senior Teams Leading by Example

Enfield Rovers would like to congratulate it's men's and women's team on wrapping up minor premiers for the 2011/2012 season.

The two senior teams led by example both on and off the court which filter throughout the rest of the club in the clubs most successful season. The men's team was almost the same team that finished second last the previous season and this year are striving to finish the season off even better. A close nit team both on and off the court any one who watches them play can tell why they are so successful.

Coach Ernie Bivonia says while he probably doesn't have the most fittest team and defiantly not the youngest team he is confident he has one of the most happiest teams in the competition and as the saying goes a happy team is a winning team.

While the women's team is a new team from last year with only two of last years fourth place team remaining. The side was very smartly put together with a mixture of experience and youth. Care taker Coach Rob Foti believes that the reason for their success was their commitment to each other whether it was at the game or at training players would put in 110%. Another main factor was their near perfect away record only losing once away from home.

Although both coaches are proud of what their teams have achieved they both know the job is only half done and they want to match the great achievement by Sydney City last year of taking out both finals. Both teams have excellent role models and players that the younger players can look up to. It's great when you see the academy & Junior squads stay at the centre all day just to watch their favourite and inspirational Men's & Women's players in action as this is what you need to make the sport grow says Bivonia.

Enfield also hade great success with our U16's age group with both teams winning state titles and the girls also wrapping up the minor premiership while the boys for the second year missing out by two goals. The girls are looking to go one better than last year after a heartbreaking grand final loss in extra time to competition favourites Mascot Vipers . While the boys who were mostly in last years 14 Boys premiership team are hungry to make it two in a row. The Rovers success doesn’t end there with two of our junior squads the 12 Boys and the 14 Girls who have done extremely well and are both in the semi's. We wish them all the very best and hope they have enjoyed season as much as we have enjoyed watching them play.

The club would like to thank all players, parents, coaches and supporters for a fantastic and successful season and good luck to all players in the next couple of weeks. The club would also like to congratulate their Inner West rivals on club championship and once again look forward to a challenge that lays ahead in next years title race.
